Stephen Varley, UK Chairman and Managing Partner UK&I, EY is the latest speaker to address the business community at the Bristol Distinguished Address Series.

Starting from his career beginnings, this talk will focus on Steve's personal road to leadership, sharing with the audience the lessons learnt on what it takes to be a good leader and highlighting the business focus and purpose of EY in building a better working world.

The Bristol Distinguished Address Series provides a unique opportunity to hear about the challenges, issues and decisions being made at the highest level of strategic leadership. The series is delivered by the University of the West of England's Bristol Business School in partnership with ACCA, Bristol City Council, Bristol Junior Chamber, Bristol Post, Business West, CBI, CMI, FSB, IoD, ICAEW, and the West of England LEP.

Steve Varley speaking ahead of the event says, “I am looking forward to speaking at this event and sharing with the audience some of my experiences I have had throughout my career and to also have the opportunity to highlight EY's purpose and ambition for growth.”

Steve Varley is the UK Chairman and UK & Ireland Managing Partner of EY, responsible for a business of over 13,000 people and revenues around £2bn. He is also a member of EY's Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) Board.

Steve joined the firm in 2005 and has over 22 years of client and consulting business experience in various sectors including pharmaceuticals, oil and gas and public services.

In January 2014, Steve was appointed as Business Ambassador for the professional services industry by the UK Government. He is a member of the Corporate Board at the Royal Academy of Arts, a founding member of the Social Business Trust and a member of its Investment Committee. He is also a member of the 30% Club and an active supporter and speaker on diversity and inclusiveness.

There will also be an opportunity for the audience to put forward their issues and questions at this event.

The series of talks continue throughout the year and will feature Chairmen, CEOs and institutional leaders representing a variety of sectors.
