The University of the West of the England (UWE Bristol) is the top post 1992 University in the South West according to the latest Complete University Guide. The University has climbed three places since last year from 56th place to 53rd.
“This is very good news and it's entirely due to the hard work by our staff and students and it demonstrates that we are moving in the right direction,” says Vice-Chancellor Professor Steve West. “We have an incredibly ambitious programme to develop the university over the coming years. This includes a £200 million investment in infrastructure and people.
“Our 2020 strategy sets out a strong focus for the future of the University and for the 28,000 students who choose to come here. We are creating valuable opportunities for our students through strong and established partnerships and courses that are aligned with the real world needs of employers.
“All of our students are encouraged to make the most of their time at the University by participating in work placements, internships and volunteering. UWE Bristol's careers and employability service is the best in the country.”
Earlier this year UWE Bristol won the prestigious National Undergraduate Employability Award 2014 for Best University Careers/Employability Service. This was in recognition of the outstanding contributions made in helping students make the most of work experience opportunities. The University also won significant recognition as the 8th best in the UK for getting a job in a Daily Telegraph survey.
“Preparing our students for the real world is what we care most about”, continues Professor West, “A significant measure for the success of a university is in the success of each graduating cohort. We owe it to our students to present them with the best opportunities and we do this through our ever growing connections and our focus on practice based learning.”
