Mateusz Zielinski, a student on the MSc Finance programme at UWE Bristol, has been awarded £2,500 by the CISI Educational Trust in a competition for outstanding masters' student coursework in a UK-wide competition.
The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) is the largest and most widely respected professional body for those who work in the securities and investment industry in the UK and in a growing number of financial centres globally.
Mateusz received his award at a ceremony at the Head Office of the CISI in London on 17 April 2014. Mateusz is one of eleven elite MSc students to win the CISI Educational Trust Awards 2014.
The MSc Finance at UWE programme confers upon students an exemption from the CISI diploma for those students who complete the programme following the award to the Centre for Global Finance of Centre of Excellence status in 2012.
The CISI Educational Trust Awards is open to students studying postgraduate finance programmes, which are accredited by the CISI as Centres of Excellence, and seek to acknowledge high standards of work.
Each winning student has been nominated for an outstanding essay, or exam result, identified by their own university, and receives £2,500 from the CISI Educational Trust.
The winning students also attended the CISI offices in April to receive their award and take part in an interview with the Educational Trust members. They completed a general knowledge quiz, which forms part of the evaluation process alongside the 30 minute interview.
The topics for the interview this year were:
The structure proposed in Sir Richard Lambert`s paper had been in place 10 years ago, would it have helped avert the banking crisis? The Chancellor of the Exchequer gave his Budget to Parliament on 19 March 2014. What did you feel were the most interesting points? At the end of the interview process the attending students can be awarded up to an additional £2,500. This is judged by the CISI Educational Trust interview panel based on performance in the interview and general knowledge quiz.
