South West's finest out in force for UWE Bristol's Law Fair

Issue date: 19 December 2013

UWE's Bristol Institute of Legal Practice held another successful law fair on Wednesday 27 November 2013. The 'Entering the Legal Profession' event marked the coming home conclusion to the law fair season for over 30 law firms and barristers' Chambers, and represented the biggest turn out from the profession since the event started four years ago. The UWE Bristol fair is unique in that it is the only law fair that focusses exclusively on the South West region.

Dagmar Steffens, Head of the LPC at BILP, said “we were delighted by the attendance of the South West's leading law firms and Chambers. We also welcome smaller firms and in-house legal teams as the focus of the event is on providing our current and prospective students with access to information on the full range of legal careers open to them, as well as recruitment”.

Only firms or Chambers with a presence in the region are invited to the event. Unusually the event takes place in the intimate setting of BILP's teaching rooms rather than a conference space so that prospective students can get a real feel for what it is like to study law at UWE Bristol.

Vicki Crisp, Senior HR Adviser at Michelmores LLP, said “The UWE Bristol law fair was a fantastic event. There was a real buzz, and we were inundated with bright students who were really keen to fully understand what a career in law would mean for them. We are already planning for our attendance next year's event!”.

Major Bristol firm, Osborne Clarke, who were unable to attend this year will be visiting BILP in January to run a session on 'Life as a Trainee'.
