UWE Bristol celebrates Iftar

UWE Bristol will be holding an Iftar event on Tuesday 6 August at 19:30 in the Octagon, Frenchay Campus.

Organiser Daryn Carter from UWE Bristol said, “Iftar is the celebration of breaking fast during Ramadan, the event is open to everyone and we are particularly inviting non-Muslim members of staff and the community to join us, celebrate and find out more about Ramadan which is currently being observed by Muslims.”

The event will be attended by the Right Honourable, The Lord Mayor Of Bristol, Councillor Faruk Choudhury and a guest speaker will present a talk on the importance and practice of Ramadan. This will be followed by a specially prepared feast to mark the end of the month-long fast.

The event starts at 19:30, with speakers at 19:45, call to prayer and fast breaking with dates and milk at 20:45 (sunset), before the sumptuous and specially prepared feast.

For catering purposes, everyone who is attending and intending to eat with us needs to register.
