UWE Bristol's Gospel Choir battle for national title

UWE Bristol Gospel Choir has been selected as one of the eight finalist choirs in the annual University Gospel Choir of the Year Competition 2013.

Each choir will be performing in this exciting evening of music in the wonderful setting of the London Hippodrome, Golders Green where UWE Gospel Choir will sing against the other 7 finalists, for the UGCY 2013 title.

This is the third annual show for the award-winning University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY) annual competition. Boasting top vocalists and brilliantly talented young people from UK universities, the event promises a night of great entertainment, great music and family fun which is guaranteed to leave you uplifted and inspired.

Hosted by MOBO Award Winner Rachel Kerr, UGCY 2013 will take place 6 July 2013 at 7pm, at the historic Hippodrome in the heart of North West London - Golders Green. The top 8 university Gospel choirs will battle it out to take home the prestigious UGCY 2013 title. This year's line-up includes University of Surrey (University of Surrey Gospel Choir); Queen Mary University (QMUL Unite Choir); (Imperial College (ICGC); Royal Holloway University (Royal Holloway Gospel Choir); University of the West of England (UWE Gospel Choir); Canterbury Christchurch University (Christchurch Gospel Choir); University of Leicester (Leicester University Voices).

The 2012 champions, University of Manchester (Harmony Gospel Choir), are back to defend their title.

With support from the Mayor of London, MPs and influential individuals from across the spectrum, UGCY is proud to be able to provide this unprecedented platform for young people to really shine and showcase their musical talents.
