Issue date: 07 March 2012

70% of businesses surveyed by Business in the Community said that they expected the gap in sustainability knowledge and skills to become one of the most pressing challenges facing UK businesses in the next 5 years. 87% said that the ability to inspire change on sustainability in a broad range of people within and outside of the organisation was one of the key skills for employees at all levels.

Following extensive research with employers, UWE has just announced the launch of a new MSc Sustainable Development in Practice. The course focuses on some of the key sustainability challenges faced by organisations and activists such as making sustainability central to the design of products, services and policy, encouraging people to change behaviours and lifestyles, moving organisations towards sustainability and developing effective communications and campaigns.

The course places great emphasis on practice and hands-on learning to ensure that when they complete the programme, graduates have the knowledge and skills that employers are looking for. For further information, please see the course webpage.
