250 rowers from across the south of England will be taking part in the British Universities Indoor Rowing Championships (BUCS). Competition takes place across six categories including seniors, who will be battling to reach 2km in the shortest time and beginners aiming to hit 1km.

This event is one in a network of 11 regional events that contribute to the BUCS national championship. The Universities of Bristol, Bath, Exeter, Plymouth and Southampton are also participating.

Current GB coach Paul Stannard will adjudicate and Nigel Mayglothling, the former GB rowing coach and former chair of British Universities Rowing (BUR) will host.

This inaugural event runs in conjunction with Bristol based partner club Aerial Rowing Club who will be providing kit.

UWE Bristol Head Rowing Coach, Stuart Redden said, “This is a welcome opportunity to showcase the rowing talent in Bristol and put the determination of the rowers to the test.”

The event will run from 09:00-16:00 on the day and spectators are welcome to attend. Free car parking is available at the University's Exhibition and Conference Centre Car Park and refreshments are available at the Red Bar in the Student Union.
