The University of the West of England is holding a conference for Higher Education Advisers to update those who need to advise prospective students about applying to university from 2012.

The conference will take place on 5 July 2011 at UWE's Frenchay Campus in Room 2B Foyer.

The conference will be useful for all professionals advising prospective students such as school and college staff, heads of sixth forms, careers advisers, Connexions and Next Step and disability advisers.

UWE speakers will include Maggie Westgarth (Head of Careers), Sue Meads (Head of Disability), Kate White (Head of Student Advice and Welfare Services), Ron Ritchie (Assistant Vice-Chancellor: Partnerships, Diversity and Civic Engagement) and Fay Croft (Director of Widening Participation and Schools and Colleges Partnerships).

Maggie Westgarth, Head of Careers at UWE, said, “It is vital that people supporting prospective students are armed with the correct information. This conference will give a really thorough insight and enable professionals to ensure that potential applicants are fully informed about funding, support and employability so that potential applicants can make their own decisions on the value of what is on offer and understand the steps they need to make to ensure they achieve this value from their investment.”
