Meet the leaders of industry at UWE

Susan Taylor Martin, President, Global Investment Focus Accounts of Thomson Reuters will share her expertise on key global business trends at the next talk in the Spring Distinguished Executive Address Series on Thursday 31 March 2011, 18:00-20:30 at the University of the West of England's Frenchay Campus.

The Distinguished Executive Address Series 'Meet the Leaders of Industry' is organised by UWE's Bristol Business School. Leaders from key UK businesses and organisations talk to students and staff about the challenges, issues and decisions being made at the highest level of strategic leadership.

Thomson Reuters is a global organisation which operates in over 100 countries, at the nexus of the fast-changing Media and Financial Services world. As a result, they have a unique perspective on how the world is changing – and what that means for business.

Susan's address will discuss 'The key trends that will shape our corporate world over the next decade'.

Susan Taylor Martin leads the global client facing activities for the Investment Focus customer segment at Thomson Reuters. This segment comprises the Investment Management, Wealth Management, Investment Banking and Corporate Clients of Thomson Reuters Markets Division.

Susan joined Reuters in 1993 in Business Development and has held a number of different management roles in the company, including running the global news product group and the global equities business. Susan was Global Head of Corporate Strategy for Reuters prior to becoming Managing Director of the UKI business.

She took on her current role in September 2010. In addition, Susan chairs the Thomson Reuters Markets UK and Ireland Diversity and Inclusion Council. She is also a member of the International Regulatory Strategy Group, which acts as an advisory body to the City of London Corporation and to TheCityUK, and a member of the Professional and Business Services Group.

Before joining Reuters, Susan worked in Corporate Finance, specialising in mergers and acquisitions. She has an MA in Chinese and History of Art from St John's College, Cambridge, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

There will also be an opportunity for the audience to put forward their issues and questions.

The Distinguished Executive Address Series of talks will continue until Tuesday 24 May 2011 and will feature Chairmen, CEOs and institutional leaders representing a variety of sectors.

Wednesday 6 April 2011, 18:00-20:30, Brendan Barber, General Secretary, Trades Union Congress will deliver his address 'From austerity to prosperity', Futures Inn Cabot Circus Hotel, Bristol.

Tuesday 24 May 2011, 18:00-20:30, Sam Laidlaw, Chief Executive, Centrica PLC will give a talk 'Socially responsible business leadership', Frenchay Campus.
