Issue date: 17 March 2009

UWE Boat Club Varsity “Embrace the rivalry.....”

The University of Bristol and The University of the West of England go head to head again this year in a series of sporting challenges which are the highlight of the sporting year for students at both universities.

The varsity series is a heady mix of fun and rivalry, with an increasing number of students and spectators enjoying the events. This is the fifteenth year of the Varsity series.

UWE Sports President Lily Priggs says, “Last year UWE exceeded expectation in the Varsity series by bringing back 8 of the 13 trophies - this year we're planning on annihilating Bristol and bringing even more of them home to UWE turf.”

University of Bristol Athletic Union Chair, Dan Hewer, said, “The University of Bristol is renowned for its achievements in competitive elite sport. We are on top form this year and I have no doubt that the trophies will return to where they really belong!”

This years the series started on 8 February 2009 with American Football and the score was 32 - 0 to UWE.
