    Students from the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) are effusive about the way a 'magic circle' law firm has opened up their vision about possibilities they had thought were reserved for a privileged few.

    The world leading 'magic circle' law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Derniger runs an annual Stephen Lawrence Scholarship (SLS) designed to address under-representation in large commercial law firms of black men from low-income households. The scheme is aimed at first year law students.

    Eleana Burrows, a final year BA Hons Fashion student from UWE Bristol, has been awarded a bursary from the Worshipful Company of Framework Knitters, one of the historical City of London's livery companies.

  • Graduate Filmmaker nominated for RTS West of England Award


    Hugo Pettitt, a filmmaking graduate from UWE Bristol has been shortlisted for a RTS West of England Award in the Digital Creativity category. This success comes just two years afte Hugo was nominated for a RTS Student Award for his graduate film 'The Invisible School'.

    Hugo was producer on the shortlisted 'Slavery Street', a BBC Three project on modern slavery and goes 'head to head' with the BBC Natural History Unit's 'Attenborough and the Dinosaur'. Hugo also worked on 'Making a Slave' nominated in the Best Short category.

    Lee Walker, an apprentice and part time BEng Electronic Engineering student at UWE Bristol is the successful recipient of the IET Engineering Horizons Bursary supported by the Lloyd's Register Foundation.
