  • UWE links with US university to encourage STEM take-up

    The University of the West of England is linking with prestigious Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in the US to strengthen the recruitment of underrepresented students particularly to STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths). The project will also encourage and share best practice between the institutions in this area.

    UWE has been awarded a prestigious British Council Connect UK-US grant to deliver the project with CMU.

  • UWE launches international placements for law students

    Two law students at the University of the West of England's Bristol Institute of Legal Practice (BILP) are the first to be placed with German law firms as part of BILP's new international placement scheme. Over the summer, Legal Practice Course (LPC) students Simon Curran and Lauren Luscombe will undertake four-week placements at two leading German commercial law firms in Berlin and Dusseldorf.

  • UWE Shiatsu practitioner helps trauma victims in Bosnia

Patricia Homewood combines a role as an Associate Lecturer in Education with working in UWE’s Wellbeing Centre as a Shiatsu practitioner.

  • UWE in Bristol-Kenya Partnership

    The University of the West of England will be accommodating the Kenyan Olympic Team during the 2012 Olympic Games in London, as well as providing training facilities for the team. A delegation from Kenya including former Olympic medallist Dr Kip (Kipchoge) Keino, who is chairman of the Kenyan Olympic Committee, members of the current Kenyan Olympic team, and the Kenyan Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Paul Otuoma, visited UWE on 1 November to finalise the plan for the team.
