  • UWE graduate wins Xcel Student of the Year

    University of the West of England Geography graduate, Robert Nichols was awarded the honour of Xcel Student of the Year at the recent Xcel Student Awards 2010 in London. This award topped off a successful evening for the University winning four out of the eight categories with students, Alexandru Atudosie and Jessica Winter also being honoured for their outstanding achievements. The awards were presented by TV presenter, Konnie Huq.

  • UWE student joins Aston Martin junior racing team

    Student James Appleby from the University of the West of England has just been announced as a member of the new official Aston Martin Racing Junior Team - Generation AMR. The announcement was made at the annual Aston Martin Racing awards dinner, held at Gaydon in Oxfordshire, Aston Martin's headquarters. According to Aston Martin Racing, the team will focus on young driver development, and was born from the joining of two family teams that competed against each other in the inaugural Aston Martin GT4 Challenge of Great Britain.

  • UWE awards honorary degree to Robin Gallimore

    The University of the West of England will award the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Technology to Robin Gallimore in recognition of his strong local connections as director of Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in Bristol and his continuing influential role as head of the South West Science and Industry Council (SWSIC) in the west of England.

    The University of the West of England will award the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Technology to Richard Noble OBE in recognition of the alignment between the aims and objectives of the Bloodhound Project to inspire and motivate, and the University's own vision to do likewise.

  • Seven UWE students win prestigious placements in CERN

    Seven students from the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) have won prestigious placements this year at CERN, one of the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research, and home to the Large Hadron Collider facility. So far this year a total of 14 UK students have been accepted for placements at CERN and more students may be selected later in the year.
