    A student at UWE Bristol needs your votes for her design for the new Renault Twizy. Emma Brown, who is a first year Graphic Design student at UWE Bristol, has based her design for the Renault Twizy car livery on the explosive imagery at a firework display. The competition is run by Subtv in association with Renault. Emma submitted her entry after reading about the competition on the Design Week blog.

Entitled 'Blame not the mobile phone, twas ever thus' it catalogues many previously untold stories about harm done by an intrusive press behaviour. Phone hacking, they argue, is just the latest underhand tactic used to invade privacy in order to sell newspapers.

    Artist Alex Hartley's 'Nowhereisland' comes to the South West this summer as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Primary schools, surfers, a group of young mums and a team of refugee footballers have been busy preparing for the arrival of the island, along with its accompanying programme of welcome events, activities and land-based mobile Embassy, to ports and harbours across the region.

    A graduate from UWE Bristol, Ibolya Feher, is getting significant recognition for her work. She was runner up in the Guardian Student Media Awards Student Photographer of the Year and a finalist in the London Street Photography Festival earlier this year. Ibolya was also a finalist in the South West Graduate Photography Prize organised by Foto Now.

  • Animation by UWE Bristol student will help to save lives

    Could a 40-second clay animation of a cartoon character with a hole in his side, designed and created in a student's bedroom in Bristol save thousands of lives?

    UWE Bristol third year Animation student Hywel Roberts has created a short animated film featuring a character called TRAN MAN, that explains the benefits of a cheap drug called tranexamic acid which helps reduce clot breakdown. The animation will be promoted to doctors worldwide.

  • UWE Bristol Illustration student wins prize at Cheltenham Illustration Awards

    A student from UWE Bristol has won the student prize at the internationally acclaimed Cheltenham Illustration Awards.

    Brittany Molineux, a year 2 Illustration student, was presented with first prize for her winning entry, "Heavenly Reindeer Tale" at a recent awards ceremony hosted by the University of Gloucestershire and received an Apple IMac computer.

  • Bristol UWE Fellow Janette Kerr elected President of the RWA

    Janette Kerr, a visiting fellow from UWE Bristol, has been elected as the fourth female president of the Royal West of England Academy. Janette Kerr studied for her PhD in Fine Art at UWE Bristol and was supervised by Professor Paul Gough who is Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
