The University of the West of England and Bristol City Council's Children and Young People's Services have joined forces to organise an 'Early Years Inclusion Conference' on Saturday 1 March 2008 at UWE's School of Education.

Over 130 early years practitioners including child minders and those working in day nurseries will come together to explore current issues with keynote speakers such as Tim Carter and Jon Abbott. The participants will also take part in practical workshops with experts such as Chrissy Meleady, Sue Norman, Dr Carolyn Bromfield and Dr Jane Tarr.

Una Bulman from UWE, the conference organiser, said, “This event offers a rare opportunity for academics, professionals and practitioners nationally and regionally to share and develop their interest in inclusion in the Early Years. The chance to meet and interact with other professionals both inside and outside of their own areas of expertise will be invaluable. We are delighted that Steve Alexander, Chief Executive of the Pre-school Learning Alliance will feature as a keynote speaker at the event.”

Helen Williams, Project Officer, Bristol Early Years and Childcare Services, said, “We are delighted to be working with UWE to put on this conference to raise awareness of inclusion issues and to provide training opportunities for early years practitioners.”

The conference also provides a chance for participants to view and purchase resources from key publishers and catalogues.
