Director of London Film School appointed to senior academic post at UWE Bristol

The University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) has appointed the Director of London Film School as its new Executive Dean for Arts, Creative Industries and Education.

Professor Jane Roscoe will join the university in September.

Her career has spanned higher education and industry – including roles as Head of International Content at the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) and Head of Channels at SBS Corporation. Alongside this career, she has published more than 50 articles and books.

Professor Roscoe has significant international experience, working in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and has held roles with direct responsibility for developing global partnerships.

She said: “I am excited to be joining such a dynamic institution, and to have the opportunity to lead a faculty with an outstanding reputation for innovation, industry partnerships and world class research. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to help us achieve even greater influence and impact.”

Professor Jane Harrington, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at UWE Bristol, said: “Professor Roscoe brings to the faculty substantial leadership experience, alongside her higher education and industry experience, with an explicit commitment to brokering relationships across academia and industry.”
