Issue date: 11 April 2017
Windows 10 is the latest operating system from Microsoft, combining new tools and features with an easy-to-use interface. From May through to September it will be installed on student computers.
Windows 10 provides better integration with Office 365 – where you can access your email, contacts, calendar and Office documents remotely via your web browser, and have access to 1TB of OneDrive storage.
It also has the benefit of higher levels of security, as devices are encrypted automatically.
The Start menu will look a bit different to Windows 7 – but it'll have the same features you'd expect. On the left hand side you'll see the power options and installed applications. You can gain quick access to programs via 'tiles' which can be removed or added to suit your needs.
Windows 10 works well on touchscreens on tablets and laptops, and even desktop monitors.
We have a project team dedicated to the Windows 10 upgrade project, so if you have any questions you can get in contact with them via Windows10Project@uwe.ac.uk
