UWE AWARDS HONORARY DEGREES

The University of the West of England will award honorary degrees to Alan Walker, Meryl Thomas and Professor Tim Brighouse at Bristol Cathedral this week.
Alan Walker will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Science at the Award Ceremony of the Faculty Health and Social Care on 27 November at 11.30am. The honorary degree is awarded in recognition of Alan Walker’s outstanding contribution to the physiotherapy profession and to related aspects of educational development and training.
Meryl Thomas will receive the honorary degree of Master of Science at the Award Ceremony of the Faculty of Health and Social Care on 28 November at 2.45pm. The honorary degree is awarded in recognition of Meryl Thomas’s outstanding contribution to the National Health Service and to educational and practice development in nursing, midwifery and health visiting, and of her support for the University of the West of England’s Faculty of Health and Social Care.
Professor Tim Brighouse will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Education at the Award Ceremony of the Faculty Education on 29 November at 2.45pm. The honorary degree is awarded in recognition of the major contribution Professor Tim Brighouse has made, nationally and internationally, to contemporary debates about education and schools, both as an academic and as a Chief Education Officer. His vision of schools of the future, of the changing role of the teaching profession and of the contribution of technology to the process of education and schooling have helped inform both government policy and the work of the Faculty of Education at the University of the West of England.
