UWE AWARDS HONORARY DEGREES

The University of the West of England will award honorary degrees to Clive Halton, Sir Michael Lickiss and Dr Jan Chlebowski at Bristol Cathedral this week and next week.

Clive Halton will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Business Administration at the awards ceremony of the Bristol Business School on 13 November at 11.30am. The Honorary degree is awarded in recognition of Clive Halton’s outstanding contribution to the development of the University of the West of England as a member of its Board of Governors and Lay Treasurer.

Sir Michael Lickiss will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Business Administration at the awards ceremony of the Faculty of the Built Environment on 15 November at 11.30am. The Honorary degree is awarded in recognition of Sir Michael’s active and long standing engagement in the advancement of education, and his outstanding achievements as founder Chairman of the South West Regional Development Agency.

Dr Jan Frank Chlebowski will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Science at the awards ceremony of the Faculty of Applied Sciences on 21 November at 11.30am. The Honorary degree is awarded in recognition of Dr Chlebowski’s distinguished achievements as a researcher in the field of Biomedical Sciences and his role as a champion of widening access to higher education. The award also recognises his work in promoting international links as reflected in the student exchange programme between the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the University of the West of England, and Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond USA.
