UWE AWARDS HONORARY DEGREES

The University of the West of England will award honorary degrees to Professor David Eastwood, Sir Brian Fender and Sir Roger Toulson at Bristol Cathedral this week.

Professor David Eastwood will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters at the awards ceremony of the Faculty of Humanities on 6 November at 2.45pm. The Honorary degree is awarded in recognition of Professor David Eastwood’s major contribution both as a Historian and to the development of the Arts and Humanities Research Board.

Sir Brian Fender will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Education at the awards ceremony of the Faculty of Law on 8 October at 11.30am.

The Honorary degree is awarded in recognition of Sir Brian’s outstanding contribution to higher education, in particular his encouragement of: wider participation in higher education; developments in teaching, learning and research; and, the improvement of university links with the business community to the social and economic advantage of the nation.

Sir Roger Toulson will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws at the awards ceremony of the Faculty of Law on 8 November at 2.45pm. The Honorary degree is awarded in recognition of Sir Roger Toulson’s outstanding contribution to the legal profession and in particular his past service as Presiding Judge of the Western Circuit.
