Applications to the UWE Bristol are showing a 3% rise in line with the national picture.
To date UWE Bristol has received some 28,867 new applications compared to 27,112 applications this time last year. Once those taking a gap year from the previous year are taken into account, applications are showing an 8% rise. The University still welcomes and encourages prospective students to apply via UCAS throughout the application cycle.
In particular there are strong increases in applications for courses in employment skills shortage areas such as engineering (15%), computer sciences (18%) and architecture, building and planning (37%).
Professor Steve West, Vice-Chancellor said, “Students are sending a clear message that they want to do courses that are orientated towards practice and linked to industry. At UWE Bristol we continue to focus our course offer and opportunities on areas that open doors for our students, so they can fulfil their ambitions. University offers a truly transformational experience.”
