It's not too late for students planning to start an undergraduate course at UWE Bristol this year - even if they do not yet have a place.

Future students awaiting exam results can call UWE on +44(0) 117 32 83333 as soon as they get them on Thursday 16 August. Those who already have their exam results can apply now.

Telephone lines will be open for extended hours, from 07:00 - 18:00 on Thursday 16 August, from 08:00 - 18:00 on Friday 17 August and from 10:00 – 16:00 on Saturday 18 August.

UWE Vice-Chancellor Professor Steve West says, “We will have around 600 places, particularly in areas of strong employer demand such as engineering, health science, radiotherapy, learning disabilities and mental health nursing.

“We have increased the number of places in engineering because graduate employment is 87% - and goes up to 97% in cases where a student has previous experience or does an internship while at UWE.

“We also expect to have places in architecture, computing, construction, forensics, geography, maths, planning, product design and property.”

Some people may find the thought of entering Clearing daunting, but with the right approach it can open new doors.

UWE student Anita Abrams has just finished her first year of a BSc (Hons) Biological Science degree and came to UWE through Clearing last year.

She said, “I found the process put me at ease, the team really settled me during the time of crisis I was going through. I got on exactly the same course I was meant to be on with my firm choice. The staff all helped me and made me feel very comfortable.

“UWE was very good compared to other universities I contacted through Clearing. I would advise people to have a contingency plan before results day just in case you don't get any of your offers.”

UWE is holding Clearing Open Days on Friday 17 and Monday 20 August.
