Sir Mike Rake, Chairman of BT Group plc and easyJet plc, will bring his extensive business knowledge and expertise to members of the Bristol business community in a unique event to be held in central Bristol on Tuesday 1 June .
'Global Crisis – Causes and Answers – Pragmatism and Honesty versus Populism', will touch on many of the burning issues currently facing businesses, and will offer an invaluable opportunity to ask questions of one of the UK's leading business minds.
The event, organised by Bristol Business School, a Faculty of the University of the West of England, is the first of its kind to be held in the centre of Bristol. This event shows the Business School's commitment to strengthening links with the business community, and sharing its knowledge and expertise with a wide audience. This early evening event is being held in a convenient city-centre location, to allow as many people to take the opportunity of listening to Sir Mike Rake.
The event also offers an invaluable opportunity for networking with academics from Bristol Business School and leading business figures from Bristol and the region.
Sir Mike Rake is also Chairman of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, as well as a Director of Barclays PLC, McGraw Hill Inc and the Financial Reporting Council. From May 2002 to September 2007 he was Chairman of KPMG International. Prior to his appointment as Chairman of KPMG International he was Chairman of KPMG in Europe and Senior Partner of KPMG in the UK.
This early evening event will start at 18.00 with refreshments, followed by Sir Mike Rake's talk and an opportunity for questions. Wine and canapés will be served at 19.30 with an opportunity for networking.
The Distinguished Executive Address Series is one of only a few at UK universities to bring high profile business leaders at CEO level and above to speak to their regional business community, students and staff.
The series invites leaders from key UK businesses and organisations to talk to students and staff about the challenges, issues and decisions being made at the highest level of strategic leadership.
