Thursday 29 April 18.00 – 21.30
UWE Exhibition and Conference Centre
Bristol BS16 1QY
World land speed record holder Richard Noble OBE will share the secrets of his success at the final of the University of the West of England's theBizIdea competition on Thursday 29 April.
Seventeen finalists in the annual competition – from UWE's staff, students and alumni – will find out if their enterprise idea is a winner. For the first time, there will be interactive voting at the event with the audience having a chance to vote for their favourite idea and online voting
in the build-up to the event.
Top prizes in the three categories – social enterprise, business and creative idea - include £5000 and a rent-free space, worth around £2500, in UWE Ventures business incubator, and various start-up packages to boost the winners' skills and business. The aim of theBizIdea is to encourage people to make their business ideas a reality.
Presenting the prizes will be Vice-Chancellor Professor Steve West and Professor Richard Noble, who is currently working with UWE and other partners on his latest challenge - to break the land speed record with the 1000 mph BLOODHOUND SSC supersonic car.
Organiser Ricardo Demarchi said, “All entrants benefit from the competition - from their initial idea, entrants learn how to develop a full business plan, with lots of professional advice and mentoring along the way. The standard of entries is higher than ever, and we are all looking forward to finding out who the judges select and whether their selection will match the audience's choice.”
