Wednesday 3 – Saturday 6 March 2010
Students from the University of the West of England's Centre for Performing Arts(CPA)
will present 'The Wedding Singer', at the Redgrave Theatre, Clifton from 3 - 6 March at 19:30 with a matinee on Saturday 6 March at 14:30.
Remember when hair was big, greed was good and shoulder pads were in? It's the 80's and wannabe star Robbie Hart is everyone's favourite wedding singer. He is the life and soul of the party until he gets jilted at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own, until he meets Julia, a sweet waitress. The only trouble is she is about to be married. Can Robbie pull off the performance of the decade and win the girl of his dreams?
Based on an original book (written by Tim Herlihy and Chad Beguelin) and subsequently the 1998 New Line Cinema hit movie written by Tim Herlihy, which starred Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, 'The Wedding Singer' will have you dancing in the aisles! With a score written by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin you will be instantly transported back to the 80's.
The show is directed by John Cousins who has also designed the set and costumes. Choreography is by Jacquie Bell. Ian Henderson is the producer and musical director. The CPA production team and cast have worked hard to create a vibrantly hilarious show. This is the ultimate 'feel good' night out for all.
Make a date in your diary for a show full of high energy and tremendous fun!
