UWE Bristol's Centre for Fine Print Research (CFPR) is helping retain traditional English pottery decorating skills by finding ways of combining them with digital print techniques.
Professor Steve Hoskins, director of the CFPR, and Mr Dave Huson are collaborating with Burleigh Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, the last remaining company to produce ceramic tableware decorated using the traditional printed underglaze tissue method. The pottery was saved from the threat of closure by the Princes' Regeneration Trust in June 2011.

Meat is an important source of proteins, fatty acids and other nutrients in a human diet. However there is evidence to suggest that the global increase in meat consumption is linked to an increase in major diseases such as cancer. This is largely related to a high consumption of total fat and undesirable saturated fatty acids present in meat. High consumption of total and saturated fatty acids has also been demonstrated to be positively related to the development of coronary heart diseases, diabetes and obesity.

At 21, Dino Zelenika is used to being the youngest person at the various orchid associations and meetings he attends. Despite his age Dino has already carried out field research into wild orchids in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH) where he was born. This research with his photos will feature in the latest issue of the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) journal The Orchid Review. The Orchid Review is the oldest and most influential orchid magazine in the world, and has been published since 1893, when Victorian society was in the grip of orchid mania.

Steve initiated the Living Heart for Bristol campaign, which aims to remove through traffic from the centre of Bristol, and is co-author of a research paper which questions recent guidance from the Department for Transport on shared space. Research conducted by a UWE Bristol researcher, based at the Countryside and Community Research Institute (CCRI), and in collaboration with Cardiff University, has found that farmers surveyed in five areas of England lack confidence in a badger vaccine to prevent the spread of bovine Tuberculosis (bTB). Farmers also had low levels of trust in the Government's ability to manage bovine Tuberculosis.

New research shows that men have serious issues and that talking about your body is no longer confined to women.
A major national study[i] examining British men's attitudes to their appearance reveals that over four in five (80.7%) men regularly engage in conversation about one another's body and that most are unhappy with their muscularity. The study found that men talk most about their unhappiness with their stomach, referred to most commonly as their beer belly.
