    Workshop: Learn how to build an argument and develop an appropriate “voice”.

    This will be useful if you are undertaking postgraduate study or if you have been told that you need to be more critical in your writing. This workshop will be suitable for Level 3 and postgraduate students.

    This workshop delivered by Professor John Albarran explores how to go about getting your research published: who you should be writing for, which journals to target and understanding the importance of complying with author guidelines and publication ethics. We will also look at the impact of open access publishing on how research is carried out and published.

    Dr Helen Frisby (UWE Bristol) and Dr Stuart Prior (University of Bristol) will tell the multifaceted story of Bristol's municipal cemeteries past, present and future. As well as charting how Bristol has disposed of its dead in the past and nowadays, they will ask what the future might hold for our local cemeteries as our lifestyles and deathstyles continue to change. This event is part of the UWE Bristol Regional History Centre and M Shed seminar programme.

  • Evaluating, assessing, and improving unsuccessful bid writing attempts

    This session, will interrogate a series of successful and unsuccessful bids to gain insights around writing to funder requirements, situating your bid in the wider context and making the bid stand out ahead of others.
