Digital Transformation of Banking

Ashok Vaswani (@avvaswani), CEO of Barclays Bank UK, will deliver the University's prestigious Annual Bolland Lecture as part of the Bristol Distinguished Address Series with his talk entitled 'Digital Transformation of Banking'.

The world has changed at an exponential pace over the last few years and it will continue to change. People are fundamentally changing how they work, socialise and entertain, with technology making it easier.

With 84% percent of the UK population now owning a smart phone, it is no surprise that these customers expect the same level of convenience and ease when it comes to their banking. Technology has changed banking in quite a fundamental way – it is not just about access on a mobile phone - it is actually allowing us to move from product centricity to customer centricity in a way that was never possible before.

Barclays UK has always been at the forefront of innovation – the UK's first Credit Card, the world's first ATM, and the first P2P mobile payments service, to name a few! Therefore it is crucial we remain ahead of this digital transformation journey…
