Creating Welcoming Learning Environments at the Department of Education and Childhood (CWLE), UWE Bristol in collaboration with Integra Schools, is pleased to invite practitioners to a one day conference. CWLE is a one year project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to share knowledge on the use of creative arts-based methods in teaching and learning English and celebrating multilingualism in UK schools.

The conference will be a space for practitioners to present their work and ideas through workshops, teachmeets and posters. We welcome expressions of interest from colleagues, teachers and consultants wishing to offer a workshop or a short talk about work involving creative arts and language for supporting children developing EAL.

Our first keynote speaker, Professor Alison Phipps (Glasgow University UNESCO Chair: Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts), will present on The Well in Welcome: Creating Welcoming Environments for All.

Our second keynote speaker, Dr Mary Carol Combs (University of Arizona), will speak on Learning in the Third Space: Pedagogies of Hope and Resistance.
