Pitch-a-thon offers a fantastic opportunity to compete for a range of prizes and support for a short pitch of any idea that could have beneficial impact.

You can pitch an idea, a solution to a problem, a business idea or an improvement to an existing concept. Pitch-a-thon is a fun, relaxed event and allows you to produce a 60 second video pitch for your idea or in teams of two.

The judging criteria is based around innovation/creativity, presentation/pitching style and feasibility of concept.

All shortlisted entrants will pitch live in an award social on Tuesday 18 April 2018.

Friday 9 February - Event open for applications

Effective pitching workshops - If you'd like some pointers on how to deliver a winning pitch, attend one of our workshops:

Monday 9 April - Complete form and attach 60 second video

Friday 13 April 2018 - Shortlisted entrants announced

Wednesday 18 April - Live Pitching, voting and awards evening

Prizes

3 spots up for grabs

  • One of three cash prizes of £500, £200 and £150
  • Developmental support for top ideas (1t-o-1, mentoring, desk space)
  • Crowdfunding investment opportunity

Filming

There are three options available to you:

  • make your own 60 second video
  • use our video booth on specified days
  • attend one of our workshops on 'Effective Pitching' where you can also get help with filming your pitch.

Pitching guidelines

  • Name of individual/team
  • Name of idea
  • How is your idea beneficial?
  • How can you take it forward or develop it further?

Further information

  • The challenge is open to all students across all disciplines
  • You can apply as an individual or maximum of two per team
  • All entries must be received by the deadline
  • All entries will be judged by the audience on the night and a select panel
  • There will be media coverage of the event, ie filming and pictures for promotional purposes. Please note that your participation with the event will be taken as consent unless you notify us otherwise.
