February Feel Good Focus

Date: 01 February - 28 February 2018

We are delighted to announce that Feel Good February is back.

February can be a tough month with the cold weather, exams, struggling with your new years' resolutions, and feeling like spring is not yet in sight. However, fear not, we have a packed programme of health, wellbeing and fitness events to rejuvenate and inspire you.

As if that wasn't enough to awaken you from the February slump, there are many fantastic prizes up for grabs. You just need to take part to be in the running for some great freebies – and the more Feel Good events you attend the more chances you have of winning.

Grab yourself a Feel Good Loyalty Card from an InfoPoint or Students' Union at either Frenchay Campus, Glenside Campus or City Campus at Bower Ashton. Take a look at the Feel Good event schedule and get involved to 'feel good' with us this February.

Five ways to feel good

Here are five ways our February programme can make you feel good:

1. Stress-busting activities

From trying out a free exercise class to taking a lunchtime wellbeing walk– we have a huge range of free activities that will help you unwind after exams and deadlines, and get those endorphins pumping. If you want to relax and unwind, then try booking onto one of our free massage slots, or try out a free meditation class.

2. Become more mental health aware

Being aware of your mental health and having tools and coping strategies, is vital. Whether you come along to a resilience workshop, try out a Mindfulness session, or pick up information at our mental health awareness stands – there are many ways to look after your mental health on campus this February. Alternatively, explore the campus on a wellbeing walk, and then drop in to one of our coffee mornings for a free beverage and treat, and the chance to chat and connect with people.

3. Try a new experience

Putting yourself out of your comfort zone and trying a new experience is a great way to feel energised and excited. Whether you sign up for a free Boxfit or Pilates class, attend a poetry slam, have a go on the climbing wall, or head to the community garden for the first time – we invite you to challenge yourself and try something new this February.

4. Enjoy nourishing, wholesome food

You will see promotions around all our food outlets this February, offering discounts on sugar-free drinks, and special deals on salads and healthy meal deals. It is the perfect time to swap some unhealthy choices for more wholesome alternatives, and feel the benefits. This year, we will also be hosting our first ever vegan and vegetarian street food market on campus. Don't miss the chance to try some delicious, meat-free street food.

5. Take a health MOT

Our physical and mental health are interlinked, and both contribute to our sense of wellbeing. So be sure to take advantage of the various health check services we will have on campus this February. Chiropractors will be offering free posture adjustments, you can find out your blood type and sign up to donate blood. Plus, the chance to try a relaxing massage and Indian Head Massage.
