The Financial Capability module run by UWE Bristol's Money Advice and Funds Service helps new students to develop and improve their financial skills, knowledge and confidence.

Financial capability is conceptually different from income or material wellbeing, and reflects students' ability to manage their money and take control of their finances.

Maximising income

Workshop two of the Financial Capability module will cover maximising income: claiming tax back and help with health costs, tenancy agreements and household costs and bills.

Topics covered

This free module tackles topics such as:

  • attitudes to money
  • budgeting
  • scams
  • saving
  • spending.

In addition, practical guidance on what to do if something goes wrong.

The module is structured over three themed weekly workshops starting on Wednesday 7 March 2018. Find out what you can learn in workshop one and workshop three.

You will be able to develop and improve your financial skills, knowledge and confidence, with a particular focus on the financial products most used by students: overdrafts, student loans and credit cards.
