  • Does your wellbeing need a boost?
  • Do you want to feel refreshed and able to make new connections in your thinking?
  • Do you feel you need to fire up the creative parts of your brain?
  • Maybe you're stuck in a rut with your writing or other aspects of your research?
  • Perhaps you could do with some much-needed relaxation and playfulness to prevent being overwhelmed?

Come and take part in the mindful, immersive experience of Lifemusic – a day of facilitated group improvised music-making. In a Lifemusic session you're free to experiment, safely take musical, personal and social 'risks', and experience the emotions of spontaneous group music-making.

About this workshop

No musical experience or skills necessary – Lifemusic suits both musical beginners and experienced musicians who can happily play together within the same group. Each improvisation begins with an easy and playful activity from which the music develops organically. There's no such thing as 'right' or 'wrong' notes, and Lifemusic starts from the belief that everyone is musical.

Music-making will be interspersed with group discussions and activities focussing on creativity and motivation relating to your PhD experience.

Instruments provided or bring your own

All instruments are provided and are easy to play, although if you have an acoustic instrument you wish to bring for yourself you are very welcome. The session is facilitated by trained and experienced Lifemusic Facilitator Anthea Prince, a community musician and instrumental/vocal teacher. Anthea is currently studying Lifemusic and wellbeing for her PhD.

Visit Lifemusic to find out more. Do not miss this rare opportunity – only 15 spaces available.

This event is aimed at all postgraduate researchers.
