Professor Darren Reynolds will give a lecture entitled, 'I'M AN IDEA... Get Me Out of Here!' as part of the Health and Applied Sciences Public Lecture Series.

About the lecture

The world around us is changing fast and we are facing many challenges. In the future, we will need more food, more water and better solutions to healthcare.

The state of the natural environment is becoming increasingly fragile. Many of us are looking towards science and technology to help address these emerging concerns.

However, turning a scientific idea into a reality brings new challenges of its own and is often fraught with the prospect of failure. All too often we think that science can provide the solutions to many of these problems, but turning an idea into a reality requires people to work together, in partnership.

This talk will explore how scientific ideas and breakthroughs can be brought to life. From an idea in some one's head to something that can impact on our day-to-day lives, from the big to the small. This is a public lecture so families are welcome.
