The University of Bristol and the University of the West of England will be presenting an afternoon of guest speakers and presentations about Athena SWAN and Women in Science and Leadership.
This conference is open to all Athena SWAN points of contact in the Wales and South West regions, as well as academics from their institutes.
The afternoon will begin with a lunch and networking opportunity for individuals from across a range of functions and institutes.
Then, the newly appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Bristol, Professor Judith Squires, will introduce a series of talks from:
- Dr Jan Bogg from the University of Liverpool, who will be discussing gender in SET and its many challenges
- Mr Harri Weeks from the Equality Challenge Unit, who will be presenting the trends and best practice from Athena SWAN in encouraging women into senior leadership
- Professor Gillian Gehring OBE, who will be talking about her own experiences from her career as a leading female scientist.
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions during a final Q&A panel.
